WHY GO? The dimly lit Rang Mahal is spacious yet offers intimate spaces. Indian decorations create a sense of understated romance.
WHAT TO ORDER? Papri chaat gives diners an idea of what they are in for. The crispy fried wafers are drowned, in a good way, by a medley of colourful sauces like yoghurt and chutney that make each bite a whirlwind of savoury goodness. Tandoori prawns is another good starter to appreciate all the spices that sum up this cuisine. Jheenga kadhai and bhindi dopiaza are also good, but be wary as they are on the higher end of the chilli scale. Dal maa Rang Mahal is a dish of lentils with a lighter tomato-based sauce that leaves diners wondering whether it is a thick soup or a bean curry; in either case it is an enjoyable addition to the table. Cheesy kadhai paneer is a lovely option if you want to temper the spices with a touch of creaminess. To top off the meal, warm sugar-packed gulab jamun drenched in syrup is a sweet treat. Or opt for coconut creme brulee, an innovative effort.
